Dear Everyone Helping Marce Pasternak,

Hello this is Hannah Pasternak Marce's daughter I would just like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for helping out my mom and family in a time in need. At this moment my mom is not in great condition. Everyone
knows that it is going to be much worse. My mom seems to be very tired every day. It is great to know that all of our friends care and are helping out. I know it really means a lot to my mom right know and that is what is
important. The meals we have been receiving have been wonderful and I just wanted to thank everyone for their support.
                                              Love,
                                     Hannah Pasternak

Dear HB Circle of Friends,

During this festive holiday season, we all count our blessings. I must tell
you, I have too many to count. Harvey and I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support and thoughtfulness we have received from all of you. I just can't believe all the things people are doing to help us, some things I don't even know about! In my wildest dreams, I could not imagine such a vast support from our friends and community.

One mom said to me "We moms have to stick together", and I couldn't agree more. I remember driving a car full of kids somewhere, not feeling safe about the place and saying to them "I can't leave you here, I know all of your moms, and they'd kill me." Or dropping off my daughter at the movies for the first time and feeling nervous about it, but saw another mom I knew staying at the movies and feeling relieved. We watch each other's kids at the beach and school, like they're ours. It's the mom network! And I'm feeling it!!!

I just have to say, you MOMS (and guys too!) are are so awesome. It's hard to put into words the gratitude I feel toward you. I plan to fight this disease for a long time, and it makes me feel good that you are with me in this fight.

With Love,

Marce Pasternak

First, thank you again for everyone’s help you will never know what your support, meals, rides, visits, etc… has meant to the Pasternak Family. Marce continues to hang in there even as Rachel has moved out to attend college and Hannah and Megan start high school.

Exactly one year ago, we were told Marce had 60-90 days, but as you can see  we take one day at a time and Marce is still with us. It has been much tougher as of late for her to communicate , but she does her best. Every other Tuesday, everyone is welcome to visit, just as long as you do not have a cold, from 10:30 to 12:00.

My sister, Ann and her husband Alan have decided to move to Huntington Beach and that will be of great help as they move in this Saturday about a mile away from us. Marce visits with Rachel nightly via “skype” on line video from Chapman, where things are working out very well. Megan starts soccer full bore again this weekend and Hannah is taking a theatre class at Edison after enjoying a Fine Arts Camp this summer.

Our lifersaver Josie helps out Monday through Saturday and we now have someone, Nick come in the evenings to help out.

We keep plugging along.

Thank you again

All of Our Friends

First, I would like to THANK everyone for their support, help and generosity during these times. I can't put in words how it helps Marce and our family.

Just to update you Marce is now using a cane and when walking for more than a few minutes a wheelchair. We will be going to the Sowers Open House this Thursday and she will be in a wheelchair to get from class to class. (If Hannah is pushing get out of the way and if Megan is pushing speak quickly because she is going to zip by you.) Her speech is slurred and is worse later in the day, but is looking forward to seeing and speaking to everyone.

Thanks to many many people we have just purchased a unit in which you can push a button on a keyboard and it will play a prerecorded statement or message. Marce has recorded many things to put in this unit for when that time comes like "Harvey turn here", "Megan go do your homework" etc.... Hopefully she will not have to use the unit soon and if she does the unit will be used for a long time.  When we are done with the unit it will be donated to the Orange County ALS Association who will pass it on to someone that does not have the support like we do.

Thank you again for everything. It is amazing how the people with the least amount of time do the most.

Harvey, Rachel, Megan and Hannah
